Drawing inspiration from the haunting themes and existential angst of the novel, I wanted to give this cover jacket a sense of unease and foreboding. Through the use of stark, monochromatic imagery arranged in a way that implies the spread of the disease, this design captures the mood of the novel without giving away too much. The use of negative space and experimental typography further emphasizes the themes of isolation and despair by illustrating the plague as a thread that floods the whole town. The result is a cover that speaks to the timeless nature of Camus' work and draws readers in with its haunting simplicity.
